Why Every Man Needs a Blue Shirt
If I had to live with one shirt for the rest of my life, it would probably be a light blue one.
Not very exciting, perhaps. But that's exactly the point.
A good blue shirt works with almost everything. Navy tailoring, grey wool, faded denim, chinos, shorts in the summer. You can wear it to a wedding and then wear the same shirt with the sleeves rolled up for lunch the next day.
I particularly like blue when the fabric has some character. Oxford for something relaxed, linen when it's warm, or a crisp poplin when you want things a little cleaner.
And unlike white, blue doesn't always look like you're trying to dress up. It just looks right.
Some of my favourite clothes are like that. They're not the pieces people notice first. They're the ones you keep reaching for without thinking about it.
Buy a good blue shirt, wear it often and don't be too precious with it.
It will probably look better in a few years anyway.
